The Swiss specialist cabling company R&M is appointing Michel Riva to take over as CEO as of September 1, 2012. The 47-year-old Swiss has held senior positions at a number of companies in Switzerland and abroad, including at Hoffmann-La Roche and DuPont. Over the past eight years, Michel Riva has given the Bonding Systems Division at the Forbo company in Baar a new strategic direction and has stimulated highly profitable growth. He supervised 1400 employees there and achieved a sales figure of CHF 600 million.
"We are delighted to be able to pass on the responsibility of managing the R&M Group to a manager with so much international experience," were the words of Hans Hess, Interim CEO and long-serving Chairman of the R&M Board of Directors. "We expect that the new CEO will work together with his colleagues in the Management Team to take advantage of the opportunities open to R&M and convert these into swift and profitable growth. We definitely have the potential to do that." Hans Hess will then continue to focus on his role as Chairman of the Board of Directors and will help ensure a smooth transition for the new CEO. Michel Riva will start his position at R&M in autumn 2012.
At the same time, the two co-owners Peter and Martin Reichle will withdraw from the operations Management Team and focus on the functions they will assume on the company's Board of Directors. Martin Reichle said, "I am pleased that, together with Hans Hess, we have found a successor who promises much success for the future. After an exciting twelve years as CEO and CSO of R&M, in which we have greatly strengthened our international position and doubled our sales, I think it's right to pass on the responsibility for our operations management to a new CEO. As the company owners, we will continue to draw on our great experience and passion in our approach to the corporate strategy and we will look to uphold the personal ties we have with our key partners." Peter Reichle added, "Having served as COO and CPO for so many years, this move now gives me the chance to focus more on our real estate business." Aside from his duties on the Board of Directors, Martin Reichle is also involved in business start-ups and various trade associations.
The Board of Directors has also decided to pass on the operational duties of Peter Reichle to COO Markus Stieger, who will then manage the whole of R&M's supply chain. The responsibility for managing global sales will be passed to the new CSO, Richard Eichhorn. Over the past few years, Eichhorn has been the manager of the Western Europe region. "It is very pleasing that we are able to pass on the important operational duties of both Martin and Peter Reichle to such reliable internal managers," said Hans Hess. After all, Marilena Della Casa, Personnel Manager at R&M, will now become a member of the Board as CHRO. „Therewith we want to underline the strategic importance of our employees“, remarks Hans Hess.
