Challenge
All-encompassing efficiency was the goal behind the high specifications for this new Bayer office location in Belgium. Efficieny in infrastructure, and efficiency in power consump-tion. A very tight construction schedule required an efficient implementation of the cabling infrastructure. Particularly, reliable network points were required for flexible office space, allowing several workers to share the same physical work space.
Solution
Through evaluation and pre-assessment it became clear that R&Mfreenet and R&M Extended Office Cabling were the optimal platforms for the network required. The modular system solutions would enable fast, reliable and exact installation which met the very exact deadlines. Though network installation was carried out concuurent with other building trades, all work was completed in less than six months, by the certified R&M-Partner Simac ICT Belgium.
Over 600 network points were connected via horizontal Real10 Cat. 6 S/FTP cabling, mainly through access points in the floor. The flexible working spaces are all equipped with easy-to-use flexible network access for multiple applications. Backbone traffic is carried via multi-mode twelve-fiber 50/125 OM3 fiber optic cables. The entire network is double cabled for redundancy throughout and in addition to Voice over IP (VoIP) a traditional telephone network is in place.
