When Hans Reichle and Renato De-Massari made the lives of many installers easier 60 years ago with their telephone outlet, it was only possible thanks to their exemplary values. Our company founders were young and very disciplined. They founded their company at the age of 24 and 29 respectively with lots of ideas and courage, but almost without capital. Their families’ homes served as offices and workshops.

The first years of R&M were characterized by uncertainties, risks, and hardship, but also by a great deal of pioneering spirit, innovation, and passion. As start-up entrepreneurs, Hans Reichle and Renato De-Massari had to stick together to cope with what soon would be a boom in orders. Their close ties strengthened the company, the confidence in the products, and customers’ confidence. Connections with installers and partners on the market were formed; these have been cultivated for decades and are a key reason for the success and growth of the company. «Customer orientation» was and still is a much-cited and practiced concept at R&M. We like to emphasize the value of good connections because it stands for our products and solutions, but also for relationships with the business environment.

R&M stands for physical network infrastructures available unconditionally. In fact, in a holistic sense, the vision and mission are aimed at the value of good connections. Second decade: VS Modula

First decade: First telephone outlet

As hardly ever before, the past six decades have been characterized by rapid technological change, particularly in the telecommunications industry. I have summarized the most important milestones of R&M for you here:

  • First decade: Pioneering phase and market entry with analog telephone outlet
  • Second decade: Market leadership in Switzerland, market launch of the VS Modular distribution system
  • Third decade: Establishment of exports, digital technology, optical fibers, and RJ45 connectors
  • Fourth decade: Second generation takes over, highly automated production in Switzerland, customer-specific solutions are increasingly in demand
  • Fifth decade: Setup of global production sites, transformation from component supplier to system supplier
  • Sixth decade: Locations on all continents, full range for all market segments, networks are becoming increasingly complex, project consulting and support from A-Z
