The on-site five-star facilities ensure owners, guests, captains and crew have everything they need to enjoy the best in safety, security, comfort and entertainment while benefiting from all the services and amenities that a city can offer. As one of the world’s genuine city-center marinas, it also has the best of Barcelona and Catalonia on its doorstep with Mediterranean hotspots and islands just a short cruise away.
“Salamanca Group” holds the marina concession until 2036. With the clear goal of providing excellent services, one of the key areas identified was the IT infrastructure and, among others, data networks. The hostility of the environment means all installed products need to withstand specific elements in harsh environments, such as salt residue in this case.

The R&M product portfolio can cater to all project demands, supplying everything in terms of both quality and the ability to install in difficult environments and tight spaces.
CLAMASA Industrial Engineering, together with IEAISA, an engineering and service company dedicated to the integration, implementation, management and maintenance of systems and communication networks and established R&M partner, were commissioned by the engineering company in charge of the project. Based on past experience, IEAISA was quick to prepare a project proposal featuring R&M products, knowing that they really do function in the specified type of environment. Raúl Mata López, an industrial engineer, is in charge of the project and has been a qualified partner for several years now. He was supported by Francisco Escane, Technical Manager at IEAISA. The two companies worked together closely to design the necessary infrastructure to provide IT services at the port. “The R&M product portfolio can cater to all project demands, supplying everything in terms of both quality and the ability to install in difficult environments and tight spaces. That is why R&M was our obvious choice as soon as we studied the marina’s requirements specified by CLAMASA Industrial Engineering,” explains Francisco Escane.
The requirements for improving the service offerings were a physical IP connection to the yachts, the deployment of an IP67 outlet mechanized in each of the vessels as well as the deployment of a global infrastructure of copper wiring that could tolerate the salt together with a fiber backbone that could take care of all customer services.
A copper and fiber CarrilDIN solution had to be implemented to allow the cables to end in cabinets specifically designed for use in tight spaces. Considerable ground work was needed in the development and implementation of the project to get fiber to the cabinet.
Today, the entire infrastructure is a luxurious end product, from the yachts coming from all over the world to the cables installed in every single berth. Luxurious customer service and materials that are mostly engraved with the name of the port on each of the cable installations give the customer even more exclusiveness.
The entire infrastructure is based on a shielded Cat. 6A solution that can withstand harsh environments. This complete solution from R&M means the port is perfectly equipped to work with the best sea clients by offering the best technological services.
