R&M, the global Swiss developer and provider of cabling systems for high-quality network infrastructures has further strengthened its international market position in the 2015 fiscal year. This is demonstrated by important installation projects which R&M has supported as a system provider. These range from the largest medical data center in Poland to the leading online fashion business in India and the Australian Industry Group as well as Muscat International Airport.
R&M is acknowledged internationally to be an innovative, customer-oriented quality leader in network technology – this is confirmed by a current customer survey carried out by the cabling specialist. R&M's specialist magazine, CONNECTIONS No. 49, gives a detailed report of some of the ongoing projects and case studies.
Important progress in terms of market development was made in Asia and the Pacific region. This included the company's success in winning the custom of the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) trade association which represents the interests of 60,000 Australian companies. The Ai Group had required a future-proof and user-friendly cabling solution, which above all could be quickly installed, for new offices in Melbourne. The association wanted to move premises within a tight deadline and seamless continuation of their work. R&M and its Australian installation partner Rydec P/L provided a complete solution based on R&M's Cat. 6A range.
The Indian e-commerce company, Myntra, the country's leading online fashion business, needed a new, stable network solution for its two office complexes in Bangalore. "It must be possible to ensure there are no system failures at any time", was one of the stipulations.
After a thorough comparison of systems, Myntra decided on Cat. 6 cabling and a fiber optic backbone provided by R&M. "All our requirements in terms of performance and reliability were met", said Darshan KB, IT Manager at Myntra.
Ghabbour Auto, Egypt's largest vehicle manufacturer, set R&M and its partners a special challenge: The intention was to simultaneously equip three service centers, eight showrooms, a data center and a disaster recovery system with new high-speed networks. Ghabbour requested unique product quality, long-term guarantees and a high level of expertise for the installation. Another decisive factor in terms of the choice of R&M's Cat. 6 solution was that it ensures durably stable performance for network operation with 10 Gigabit Ethernet. Ghabbour had the backbones of the structured cabling set up with OM3 and OM4 fiber optic cabling and parallel optical MPO connectors from R&M.
The Muscat International Airport in Oman wants to achieve dynamic growth and quadruple its capacity in the space of just a few years. A prerequisite for this is a new network infrastructure which will transport 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet and run reliably for 20 years. R&M has implemented a complete fiber optic solution together with its regional partner, OHI Telecom. It is based on the Optical Distribution Frame (ODF) and Single Circuit Fiber Management (SCM) system. R&M developed specially tailored 19" splice and patch distributors in next to no time to meet the special needs of the airport network.
R&M is also keeping an eye on a growing demand for high-quality cabling systems in Europe. The Polish Medical Data Processing Center thus chose to set up innovative e-health services using R&M's high-density solution. The medical data center in Wrocław is the largest of its kind in Poland and one of the most modern in the world. It is considered to be a pioneer in the field of telemedicine.
There is a revolutionary change taking place at the moment on the Portuguese broadband market. The provider NOS Comunicações, which was created by a merger, is pressing ahead with building a full-coverage fiber optic network on a much larger scale than any other provider. Millions of telephone, TV, film and Internet customers are to benefit from the fastest, most reliable and most innovative services by 2016. R&M is supporting NOS Comunicações with Fiber to the Home (FTTH) cabling solutions.
In Western Austria, Hall AG is pressing ahead with the extension of fiber optic networks on an equally huge scale with its Citynet brand. Hall AG decided on network components from R&M, because they were impressed by four important criteria: quality and reliability of the cabling technology, seamless extension options for increasing power requirements and uniform standards in all data centers and nodes.
