Renowned customers in Australia, the Basel headquarters of the US chemical group Huntsman and the Caisse Primaire d’Assurance Maladie (CPAM) in Calais, have one thing in common: an ultra-fast data network, which was installed in record time. For these projects, the installers and customers chose the innovative Cat. 6A EL connection module of the Swiss cabling specialist R&M. This new development has been on the market for six months and is already in global use. The RJ45 jack enables a local data network to be operated with 10 Gigabit Ethernet, which is 1000 times faster than data traffic sent via today's most commonly used 1 Gigabit Ethernet networks. "The real and most significant step forward, however, lies in the mounting solution," underlines R&M's CEO Michel Riva.
Installers can wire the Cat. 6A EL module in under a minute. The eight copper cables can be contacted in just one step. In the past it would have taken days to wire a network distributor for structured cabling systems, but, with the Cat. 6A EL, it can be done in a matter of hours. Michel Riva refers to this as an "evolutionary leap forward in copper connectivity technology." According to R&M, the Cat. 6A EL was developed with the aim of significantly simplifying installation in the area that usually takes the most work: connecting the RJ45 modules in high-rise buildings.
"The new Cat. 6A EL module was a breeze for our staff to install" reports Project Manager Mathew Capon from the installation company JCB in Sydney, Australia. JCB equipped a large furniture retailer in Sydney with a high-performance network. Rainer Helm from the Basel-based installation company Schachenmann + Co. AG says: "The module is self-explanatory." Schachenmann recently newly cabled the headquarters of the US chemical group Huntsman in Basel, Switzerland. All network connections are equipped with the Cat. 6A EL module from R&M. The measurements performed on completion of the project produced excellent signal and attenuation values.
R&M's Cat. 6A EL module has two parts: the wire guide and the jack with wiring cover. EL stands for Easy Lock. The jack can be mounted without any special tools. Insulation displacement terminals contact the cables automatically when the cover is closed. An integrated half clamp provides strain relief, securing all types of cable without squeezing them. Cable ties are no longer needed. With shielded cabling solutions (STP), the half clamp establishes the shielding contact at the same time. The RJ45 jack fulfills the component specifications according to IEC 60603-7-41/-51. It is suitable for the construction of permanent links and Class EA channels according to ISO/IEC 11801, currently the highest performance level in Twisted Pair copper cabling. The Cat. 6A EL module fulfills all requirements for high-frequency data transmission and for network operation with 10 Gigabit Ethernet, which will be required in the future.
