With sleek, elegant architecture and a sophisticated bioclimatic concept, Incity is one of the pioneering projects of the last decade. The new office tower in the La Part-Dieu district of Lyon – the second-largest business district in France after La Défense in Paris – will open its doors once building work is complete in December 2015.

The building is owned by Caisse d'Epargne Rhône-Alpes, whose Headquarters will be occupying 20 floors and covering 17 600 m² of office space and workplaces for some 700 employees. The remaining 19 floors will be occupied by TER, the French regional rail service owned by the SNCF Group.

Sustainability and performance

The data network must work perfectly for future Incity users and do justice to the building concept. R&M won the contract with its high-quality strategy for bringing the 2700 workspaces online. The construction managers and Côte, the company in charge of voice, data, and visual communications, were all impressed by R&M's innovative network solutions.

The first phase of the project of moving in the SNCF Group's TER management department, one of the two users of the building, was completed in June 2014. Côte installed 210 24-port panels for 10 000 shielded Cat.6A advanced plug-in modules and 5000 EA PL2 connectors (Performance Plus). 210 kilometers of type F/FTP Cat. 7 cables were laid in total.

"We have been working with R&M on a regular basis for around five years. Several suppliers took part in the tender procedure, but R&M's proposal fulfilled all the requirements laid out in our technical specifications. The efficiency, logistics, product quality, and services, as well as the proposed project management strategy sealed the deal for Sogelym Dixence, the developer on this project," says Wilfried Buratto, Head of Services at Côte.

The first phase was completed without a hitch and on schedule, not least thanks to R&M's distribution partner AZENN, who supplied the preassembled connectors.

Securing trust

For this reason, R&M was also tasked with implementing the second phase. Cabling work in the Caisse d’Epargne Rhône-Alpes (CERA) offices began in January 2015, with 3100 class EA PL3 (Performance Plus) connectors and 9300 Cat. 6A Advance shielded plug-in modules being installed across 20 floors. These were joined by 530 U-boxes for the consolidation points (CPs) and 150 PC 6A panels with 24 "inteliPhyready" ports. 120 kilometers of S/FTP Cat. 7 cable for 1000 MHz were laid in total. The result was a sustainable, highperformance data network that is available around the clock. "The overall package supplied by R&M excels in terms of quality, price, and service," says Wilfried Buratto.
