R&M offers network cable products and cable management for your server environments.

Today data centers are comprised of computer rack rows and network cabinets that accommodate an opulence of network cables, power cords and network equipment. It is very difficult to provide excellent cable management inside a cramped, closely spaced server rack.

However, a large emphasis should be placed on organization and cleanliness when creating the setup. If left unmanaged, things can quickly escalate out of control. Also, the more people involved in cable management, the more disorganized things can become as one employee may run cables one way while another may run them completely different. If you follow the right direction and work with some test-and-tested methods, cable management is no longer a nightmare, though.

Tips to make cable management easier

  1. Measure the length of the link so that you do not lose capital and space on excessive cables.
  2. Label the ends of cables. This lets you know exactly where they’re going.
  3. Route all the cables to the sides of the rack, where you should put vertical cable managers. Keep cables out of the way things need to be accessed.
  4. Count in expansions. Chances are that your rack space will fill up if it’s not full yet. It also is quicker and requires less investment plan ahead.
  5. Use cable velcro tape to keep groups of cables organized and stop them from overlapping on each other
