FTTH Precon solutions for overhead line development

FTTH Precon solutions for overhead line development – Fast and flexible plug & play, innovative and reliable

Continuous fiber-optic connections to the end customer are one of the prerequisites for modern broadband data transmission to the home.

Since, up to now, a fiber-optic based FTTH development outside cities and conurbations has often not been worthwhile for telecom operators due to the high investments involved, there are still many undersupplied areas in rural areas even in highly technologized industrialized countries, including in Europe.

Aerial deployments are an interesting alternative to the classic, buried fiber optic network. Overground cabling has been around ever since we had electricity and telephone networks.
And FTTH can also be rolled out around two and a half times faster by means of overhead cabling and by using existing telephone or electricity company masts than with conventional
underground cabling.

Aerial deployments are an interesting alternative to the classic, buried fiber optic network. Overground cabling has been around ever since we had electricity and telephone networks. And FTTH can also be rolled out around two and a half times faster by means of overhead cabling and by using existing telephone or electricity company masts than with conventional underground cabling.

Robust, self-supporting and either single- or double-sided pre-assembled connection cables (ADSS and Drop) including IP- protected optical connectors and adapters, as well as innovative distribution boxes (RIO, SRS) and modern distribution closures (SYNO, ZOONA) for mast mounting, each optimized for the different levels of the network, form important solution components for the overhead expansion of fiber optic lines.

They are complemented by a wide-ranging portfolio of cable terminals (CONNEXIO) and boxes (POLARIS) to realize the last meters to the connection of the end customer property, again with partially or fully pre- assembled drop cables and correspondingly robust IP-protected connector as well as patch or splice technology.

Pre-installed splitter configurations

With its new FTTH aerial portfolio, R&M provides a variety of system  elements that set standards in terms of modularity, ease of use and flexibility.

Due to the pre-assembled cables adapted to the respective network topology, the pre-installed splitter configurations in the boxes or closures, the possibility of time separation between installation of the distribution infrastructure and connection of the end customer, the installation times are reduced and the efficiency in the project is increased.

All boxes, closures and terminals in the R&M Aerial Solutions portfolio are designed for climatically demanding environments and offer extremely robust and flexible solutions for a wide range of applications outside urban infrastructures worldwide.

« R&M offers …

  • … many years of experience as a solution provider in the field of cabling and connectivity with passive fiber optic networks and corresponding FTTH projects worldwide.»
  • … application knowledge and experience with connectivity technology in the industrial and telecom sectors under harsh, extreme environmental conditions.»
  • … specialized and customized solutions in high quality at an attractive price.»
  • … global presence and customer proximity with application knowledge, manufacturing capacity and on-site service.»
  • … especially for projects in overhead line development: planning and definition of cable assembly and infrastructure components, locally and promptly in coordination with the various partners in the end customer’s eco-system.»

Fiber optic closures from R&M – New standards in flexibility and handling

A

SYNO – ZOONA 144

With the SYNO closure and its innovative gel-sealing technology or the ZOONA closure with its modern, user-friendly QIKseal cable entries, R&M offers two alternative solutions for the distribution point (mast, street cabinet or shaft, PoP) as a transition between splice technology and Precon technology.

SYNO Splice Closure (IP68)

  • Cable entries in gel technology, installation: mast, street cabinet, shaft
  • Modules for different cables (2-28 mm) and micro tubes (5-14 mm)
  • Can be individually equipped with splice, patch or splitter trays

A1 – SYNO Closure(IP68)

ZOONA Closure (IP68)

  • Innovative single-cable sealing system (QIKseal), installation: mast, street cabinet, shaft
  • Modules for various cables (2-16 mm) and micro tubes (7, 10 mm)
  • Individually mountable with splice trays (4×12) and splitter
  • Also available as precon version in several variants (see B1)

ZOONA Closure (IP68)

B

ZOONA Precon (IP68)

The ZOONA Precon is a mechanically sealed closure for network applications in the access area. It is especially ideal for aerial deployments with its compact dimensions optimized for mast mounting plus it features IP-protected adapters and several application variants with integrated splitters and cables pre-assembled with connectors on both sides.

  • Precon: 100% preconfigured. Four configurations are available: 1/8, 2/8, 1/16 and 2/16.
  • Input/output for the loop can be either via a SC or an MPO adapter can be used
  • This allows typical configurations to be built with 1:4, 1:8 or 1:16 splitters

B1 – ZOONA Precon (IP68)

CTO RIO Box (IP65)

The CTO RIO Box is designed as a flexible, multifunctional box in the aerial access area and can be installed on a mast. The internal structure of the box can be individually configured and conveniently equipped and maintained outside the already installed housing.

  • IP65, lockable cover, installation: mast, rope or facade, bracket integrated
  • 100% precon, up to 16 adapters for IP connectors (SC/APC or MPO)
  • Precon/patch variant for up to 16 drop cables, capacity for up to 3 splitter modules

B2 – CTO RIO Box (IP65)

SRS Box (IP65)

The SRS Box is available as a fully pre-assembled box for rapid network expansion in two configurations. It is optimized for the use of pre-assembled cables. It offers simple network migration and expandability as well as low-cost and project-specific adaptation through different splitter variants.

  • Mast or cable mounting integrated in design, IP65
  • Up to 18 x IN/OUT IP connectors possible (MPO or SC/APC adapter pre-assembled)
  • 2 variants: 2+8 IN / OUT or 2+16 IN / OUT, splitter variants 1:8 or 1:16

B3 – SRS Box (IP65)

C
R&M offers a broad cable portfolio tailored to the Fiber to the Home sector. R&M has the right cable for the job, regardless of whether the cables are installed in ducts, blown into micro tubes, or as free-hanging aerial cables. ADDS and drop cables are used for outdoor cabling (aerial applications).

Fiber Optic ADSS Cable

  • Medium and high fiber optic cables (24f – 144f)
  • Gel-filled loose tube construction, dry core with water repellent yarn
  • Overhead line application between masts, medium and long spans (100 m – 200 m)
  • UV stable outer jacket, PE material, very high tensile strength

C1 – Fiber Optic ADSS Cable

Fiber Optic Drop Cable

  • Low to medium fiber optic cable (2f – 24f)
  • MiniCore or loose tube design
  • Dry construction with water repellent yarn
  • Cabling between mast and terminal/box/building, span: 30m – 80m
  • UV-stable outer sheath, PE or LSZH material, high tensile strength
