Saved from high costs
The infrastructure in the computer halls is also growing. Rack rows need to be expanded or adapted on an ongoing basis. When eight racks were to be replaced in 2018 due to design disadvantages, the team at Tecnosteel recommended deepening the installed racks during operation and thus preventing an interruption to business. That was 16 times more economical than having them replaced.
This success has led to the development of a trusting, long-term business relationship. Nexi ordered a total of 80 racks and 160 monitored PDUs in three consecutive rounds of investment. Further large shipments of 238 BladeShelter server racks and 476 controlled PDUs followed in late 2022 and early 2023.
The racks are manufactured at R&M Tecnosteel in Brunello, the BladeShelter team manages the project and configures the racks, and a distributor takes care of storage and logistics.
